As a proud union steward and SEIU member, I’ve seen firsthand how strong unions build strong communities, yet many workers are still denied basic rights, left vulnerable to exploitation, or treated as disposable. In Congress, I’ll fight to protect every worker’s right to organize, raise standards across industries, and make sure our economy rewards people who work hard, not just corporations at the top.
The right to organize is fundamental to a fair economy. I’ll fight to protect every worker’s right to organize, bargain collectively, and strike without retaliation or intimidation.
Flexibility shouldn’t mean exploitation. Too many gig and contract workers are left without basic protections like fair pay, benefits, or workplace safety. Fixing this is complicated, and I won’t pretend there are simple answers, but my bottom line is clear: every worker deserves dignity on the job. In Congress, I’ll work with gig workers themselves, along with labor leaders and experts, to craft reforms that protect pay and benefits without taking away the flexibility people value.
An economy that works for all of us should give workers a real stake. I’ll champion policies that support worker cooperatives and employee ownership, building more resilient, equitable businesses from the ground up.
Equity can only be achieved when every worker is seen and heard on the job. I’ll promote justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in hiring, and advocate for a 32-hour workweek that respects workers’ time and well-being.
Co-ops and employee-owned businesses put profits back into workers’ pockets instead of executives’. They’re more stable during economic downturns and strengthen local economies because ownership and accountability stay in the community.
Unions are funded by their members through dues, not by taxpayers or corporations. Strengthening protections doesn’t mean paying for unions, it means making sure the rules are fair and actually enforced. That requires modest investment in agencies like the National Labor Relations Board to hold union-busting employers accountable, and in wage theft enforcement so workers get the pay they’ve earned. Compared to the billions we hand out in corporate subsidies, this is a small cost that delivers huge benefits for working people.
